At Cult, we believe that it’s as much the trainers as it is the people who work out who make the place as fun as it is. And so, we’ve decided to shine the spotlight on some of our trainers, their stories, and give you a little more insight into what makes them tick.
Meet Shivani Dound
Shivani Dound was just 6 years old when she took an interest in gymnastics and started learning & practising in a local gym in Mumbai. In no time, she got the hang of it and from then on, there was no looking back. She went on to master the sport, participating in as many competitions as possible; she proved to be a natural and winning came as a part of her hard work and dedication to the sport.
She is the first woman to win the Asian Championship in Trampoline Gymnastics and is one of the many high achievers in the field of sports and athletics — and she happens to be a proud member of the Cult trainer family.
And she’s not the only one…
Like Shivani, Cult boasts a long roster of young, talented individuals who have worked hard, fought all odds and chased their dreams to convert sports and fitness into more than just their passion — they’ve successfully made a living out of it! Here are some of their stories:
Namitha, Prabhakar, Rubi and many other Cult trainers have all fought the norms and defied society’s rules to be able to pursue their passion, but there still lies a pool of untapped talent waiting to be brought into the spotlight. And at Cult, that’s what we are striving towards.
We believe that sports and fitness is not just a hobby, but a lifestyle. And so, we give these young athletes a way to chase their dreams while doing what they love.
For instance, Allwyn started off as a regular Cult member who took a great interest in fitness and is now part of the Cult trainer family, as an S&C/HRX trainer! That’s what fitness can do!
Now that they’re Cult trainers, what next?
At Cult, we want to give our members the best workout experience and, therefore, having the best trainers is a no-brainer. We are constantly on the lookout for the best talent — especially those with tremendous passion.
And to ensure they can deliver on the Cult promise, the Cult Training Academy has a comprehensive learning and development course that helps them hone their skills and be better every day themselves.
What kind of training does a trainer go through?
As soon as someone is hired as a trainer, they undergo a certification course which lasts about 30 days. Through this course, they learn the basic etiquette of being a trainer at Cult and also focus on learning all our signature workout movements. Once they are considered ready, their skills are put to the test at any of our 260+ Cult/Mind centres.
In addition, some of our well-known formats, such as S&C and Boxing are accredited by ACE, NASM & AFAA, which gives trainers additional credibility. Throughout their journey as Cult/Mind trainers, our master trainers coach and nurture each of them to ensure that they perform at their best. This, in turn, ensures that they deliver the best workout/training experience for our members.
And it’s not just about workouts, our team of experts at the Training Academy also focus on grooming, public speaking and personality development. In addition to this, they are trained to understand time management, leadership, fire & life safety and much more. To top it off, their learning and growth never stops! Format heads conduct regular Performance Coaching classes and workshops to make sure that the trainers’ performance is always getting better.
All in all, not only have we been able to create a platform that allows people to explore a career in fitness, but also ensures that they have a growth plan charted out. Through this process, we’ve helped over 2000 passionate athletes and sportspeople make a career in sports and fitness!
